American Chemical Society Scholars Program($5,000)

The American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program is open tocompetent African American, Hispanic, or Native American students. Students pursuing chemical technology or chemical sciences can apply for this scholarship. In order to be a potential awardee, the student must be enrolled in U.S. recognized university, should have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and must demonstrate financial need.

A club created by professional golfer Notah Begay III, the Albuquerque Community Foundation (ACF) offers two scholarship awards for the benefit of Native American athletes countrywide.

American Indian College Fund Full Circle Scholarship Program

American Indian College Fund Full Circle Scholarships are granted to Native American and Alaskan Native students who are attending non-tribal public or private universities in the United States. In order to receive the need-based scholarships, applicants must be U.S. citizens, enrolled full-time in an accredited university, recognized as a member of a recognized tribe or descendant of an enrolled tribal member, and possess a minimum GPA of 2.0 or better.

American Indian Nurse Scholarship Awards

The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America awards the American Indian Scholarship Award to students of Native American descent who need financial assistance to pursue a career in nursing or other related healthcare fields. As long as recipients maintain good overall academic standing, the program continues to grant $1,000 each semester to cover tuition and specific academic expenses for each year enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Eligible candidates must be at least one-fourth American Indian, a high school graduate, expected to graduate in four years with a BSN degree, and recommended by a school official.

Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Scholarship Program

The Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Scholarship Program is designed to assist enrolled members of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Indians with attending an accredited higher learning institution in the United States. In order to be granted the maximum award amount of $5,000, students must be U.S. citizens and high school graduates accepted into a university, as well as possess a minimum GPA of 2.0 or greater and demonstrate financial need.

Bureau of Indian Education Higher Education Grant Program

With its Higher Education Grant Program, the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) offerssupplementary financial assistance to eligible American Indian and Alaskan Native scholars in quest of a bachelor’s degree. For an applicant, it is necessary to be a member of a federally acknowledged American Indian tribe or a Native American successor.

Cheyenne and Arapaho Higher Education Grants

The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, through the Department of Education and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, giveyearly Higher Education Grants to registered tribal members. In order to avail the grant, the applicant must be certified by the Concho Agency and must be at least one-fourth degree Cheyenne and Arapaho Indian. Whilst applying for this grant, the student is expected to submit a comprehensive degree plan, along with a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB), letter of acceptance to a U.S. university, an official high school or college transcript.

Chickasaw Nation Governor’s Scholarship ($500)

The Chickasaw Nation grants scholarshipsare awarded to outstanding students who are pursuing an undergraduate, graduate or post-graduatedegree from a recognized U.S. university. Granted annually, this scholarship does not have geographical restrictions and requires the applicant to own a valid Chickasaw Nation citizenship card. To be able to apply for the Native American Scholarship, the students must have a minimum GPA of 3.9.

Choctaw Nation Scholarship Advisement Program Scholarships ($1,000 – $80,000)

A merit-based grant, the Choctaw Nation Scholarship Advisement Program Scholarship is sponsored by private and corporate donors. The scholarship is grantedexclusively to the members of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship for Native American students is that the applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. It is also necessary that the students must be enrolledas full-time at an accredited university within the U.S.
